Colmore BID has announced the return of “Welcome to Birmingham” this May. The events series will allow new professionals to develop vital business skills, understand networking benefits, and connect with like-minded individuals.
Between Monday 15 May, and Friday 26 May, Colmore BID will host a week of insightful events for professionals who work in the award-winning Colmore Business District.
After its popularity in 2022, the BID will hold a new series of events, including Network and Drink, Group Mentoring, leadership Development and much more.
Some of the Welcome to Birmingham events will be delivered in partnership with TAG Network Midlands; a networking community that helps its members enhance their personal and professional skills to build strong business relationships.
Last year, Colmore BID spoke with a number of partners and businesses about the need for more networking opportunities for young professionals in the city centre. Using that feedback, the BID launched the ‘Welcome to Birmingham’ initiative to help local professionals understand the benefits of working in the District, how to develop their professional skills and tips for expanding their existing network. The initial series was a great success and resulted in many events reaching full capacity.
This May, Colmore BID is partnering with local businesses in the District to host ten events to support professionals in developing essential workplace skills and boost well-being through activities such as Guided Meditation and a hands on Cookalong session.
The events are the perfect opportunity for individuals to experience what working in the Colmore Business District has to offer, how to connect with like-minded individuals and gain insight into how they can exploit these opportunities to thrive in their future careers.
Nicola Fleet-Milne, Chair of Colmore BID, said: “Following the success of last year’s ‘Welcome to Birmingham, we are delighted to announce its return with a brand-new line-up of exciting events for young professionals.
Over the past few years, we have seen the development of a flourishing network of talented professionals in the District, and we hope that the return of this series will attract new people to attend these sessions and encourage their participation throughout the year in the many initiatives that the BID, and wider District, hosts.”
Colmore Business District is a business improvement district (BID) established in 2009 to project manage improvements and services to the business quarter of Birmingham. Over 500 companies, employing around 35,000 people and occupying approximately 5.6 million square feet of office space, now form the commercial heart of Birmingham.
Since it was founded, Colmore BID has delivered, influenced, and partnered on a broad range of projects to make the district an outstanding place to live, play and work. Projects include the Ladywood Community Project, Summer in the Square and Nicklin Unseen.
The BID also aims to make Colmore a safer and cleaner place for its businesses by providing security teams, on-street cleaning and an ambassador programme.
